Eyeglass Lens Coatings

Depending on how you use your glasses, Marchese Opticians can help you choose optional coatings that can enhance the performance and style of your eyeglass lenses. These include:
  • Anti-reflective - Also called AR coating or anti-glare coating, this coating reduces internal and external reflections. Others can see your eyes more clearly without the reflections. And annoying glare to your eyes is greatly reduced.
  • Scratch resistant coating - Lenses can be coated on both sides to create a harder exterior surface that make your lens more resistance to scratches. While no lens is completely scratch-proof, the scratch resistant coating help reduce the possibility of scratches.
  • UV coating - UltraViolet (UV) Eyeglass lenses can be treated to completely block the sun's UV rays. Note: polycarbonate and most high-index lenses have built in UV protection so additional treatment is not necessary.
